I have no trouble with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler dabbling into non-Aerosmith areas. I don’t watch American Idol, but if his stint as a judge on the popular TV show gains the band more younger followers, it’s time well spent.
I’m more lukewarm to Tyler’s foray into country music. I like some country music, too, and don’t begrudge him for reaching into a different genre. It’s just that his first country song, “Love Is Your Name,” sounds like a slickly produced, fine country song that could’ve been sung by any current country star. I just don’t hear much trademark Tyler in it, certainly no vocal scatting. There are, however, his trademark scarves and a beautiful girl in the video, shot outside of Nashville
Take a look and listen and judge for your self.
