Last summer, Tom Petty brought Mudcrutch to our area as the headliner at Summer Camp at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe. I enjoyed the show, but was disappointed that, since 60% of Mudcrutch are also members of The Heartbreakers, they didn’t play any Tom Petty songs. They stuck to material from their two Mudcrutch LP’s.
This year, we can hear all the great hits from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer when Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers hit the road for their 40th anniversary tour. And they’ve got four stops scheduled in the Midwest in what may be the group’s final big tour. See schedule HERE.
May 10, Tom and The Heartbreakers will play Champaign at the State Farm Center on the University of Illinois campus. On May 12, they’ll be in St. Louis at ScotTrade Center. They’ll be in Indianapolis on May 13, then play outdoors with Chris Stapleton at Wrigley Field, June 29.
Tickets go on sale to the public NOW. Here’s your chance to see the great Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers before they stop touring. In a Rolling Stone story this week (read HERE), Petty speculated that he and the band will play concerts in the future, but doubted that they’ll do a 50-city, coast-to-coast tour with The Heartbreakers again.
